During this episode, we chopped it up about her signature moniker. Growing up, her Mother (Freestyler), both Grandparents played a variety of music which shapes her ear and the way she creates her music. Going to school for Art and creating paintings, she started to create her own artistic worlds. She names her Greatest Beats of All Time “Go Ladies” from Slum Village’s Fantastic 2.10. produced by J DILLA. She names her Beatmaker/Music Producer Superheros like Missy Elliot, Justin Pearson, OhBliv, Ru Paul and more. To create her soundscapes, she started making beats on FL Studio. Then advanced to Native Instruments Maschine MKIII, Roland’s SP404, Serato Studio and Elf Audio’s Koala 🐨 Sampler to create her experiences. Illixie gave details about how a few albums “10:10” dedicated to her Grandmom, “Something On My Mind” with Discipline 99, “Newborns” and the Childlile video (watch here). She also talks about doing live performances for showcases like Ladies Love Loops and Duck World 🔪🐤🌎 and the work happening to create safe spaces for women creatives to showcase their art/music. illixie left crazy jewels and inspiring words for Beatmakers and detailed what's in store for 2023.
